One more sleep....

....until we head to the snow.

This morning we headed off to Ghiradelli Square for breakfast. We found a real old style All-American diner....

....complete with red leather booths with jukeboxes, black and white checked floor and wall tiles. The jukebox was playing all the ballads from the 60's.

Clive and I left the girls at The Cannery to shop hop whilst we headed to Alcatraz. Unfortunately, because it was a public holiday in America, Alcatraz was booked out and we couldn't get a ticket. We came back to Fisherman's Wharf and found the girls who didn't seem particularly happy to see us. Not sure what they had planned in our absence!!

We decided to take a motorised cable car tour of the city and surrounds. The tour lasted 2 hours and was extremely informative, although we sat on the left hand side of the car and all the sights appeared to be on the right side.

A couple of shots of the famous Golden Gate Bridge....

After a clam chowder lunch served in a sourdough damper, we headed back to the city in a bus. The girls jumped a cable car in Union Square to head back to the hotel whilst Clive and I walked about 2kms to a gear shop to buy walking boots.

Although we didn't have to walk up any hills, these pics give you some idea of just what a hilly city San Francisco is. The first shot is of famous Lombard Street. At the top of the street you can see it is so steep that a series of half a dozen hairpin bends switch back and forth across the street as it is just too steep to drive straight down....

Diane wasn't feeling 100% tonight, so she stayed in the room to recover. Clive, Lorraine and I had a nice pasta meal at a recommended restaurant close to the hotel. The food was very nice and guess what.....there was a line and 20 minute wait to get in.

Just packing now before we call it a night. Early start in the morning (05:30) as we head to Big White........let the fun begin!!!!!!
